Which iPhones does Scriba work on?

Any iPhone running iOS 26 or later. On-device speech recognition is part of the system, so no download from us is needed — though iOS may fetch the language model for a given language the first time you use it.

It transcribed my speech in the wrong language

Open the recording screen and tap the globe button above the timer, or go to Settings → Transcription language. Leave it on “Detect automatically” and Scriba listens to a sample and picks the right model; set it explicitly if you record in a language your iPhone is not set to. On a note that came out wrong, tap the language name under the title to transcribe it again in another language.

The transcript is not accurate enough

Accuracy depends heavily on the recording. A phone lying flat on a desk three metres from a lecturer, two people talking over each other, or a noisy room will all degrade the result, and no transcription tool is immune to that. Placing the phone closer to whoever is speaking makes more difference than any setting. If the result is unusable on a clean recording, send us the details and we will look into it.

Why is there no cloud sync or web version?

Because everything runs on the device. That is what makes transcription unlimited and free of per-minute charges, and it is also why your recordings cannot be read by anyone but you. The trade-off is that notes live on the iPhone that made them.

I bought Pro but the app still shows the free limits

Open Settings inside Scriba and tap Restore purchases. This re-reads your Apple Account entitlements. Make sure you are signed in to the App Store with the account that made the purchase. If it still does not unlock, email us with the date of purchase and we will sort it out.

How do I cancel a subscription?

On your iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Scriba. Cancelling at least 24 hours before the end of the current period stops the next renewal. You keep Pro until the period you have already paid for runs out. Cancelling a free trial before it ends means you are never charged.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds ourselves, but if something in the app was at fault, tell us and we will support your request.

Can I import a video?

Yes. Tap the import button next to Record and choose any audio or video file from Files or a connected cloud drive. Scriba extracts the audio track and transcribes that. Files from YouTube and other streaming services cannot be imported, because downloading them is not permitted.

Where are my recordings kept, and how do I get them out?

In the app's own storage on your iPhone. Open any note, tap the menu in the top right and choose Export to get plain text, Markdown, PDF, Word or SRT subtitles. Deleting a note deletes its audio too, and deleting the app removes everything.

Do the AI features work on my iPhone?

Yes, on every supported iPhone. Where Apple Intelligence is available Scriba uses it; where it is not, the app falls back to its own on-device analysis. Summaries, concept maps, study cards, glossaries and action items are produced either way.

What about my privacy?

Recordings and transcripts never leave the device. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
